For now, here some activities to use before half term or to send as holiday reading in anticipation of the budget.
First, a powerpoint and handout on what the budget is and what we are looking out for in this year's budget.
Here are some budget bingo cards in a variety of printing formats. These blank and pre-filled, with 1-, 2-, or 4- to a page. I think there are about 80 cards, but obviously you'll only need to print as many as you need for your class size.
An explainer on How Taxes Can Change (ie not just rate rises, but eligibility changes, relief changes, band changes etc).
An explainer on How Government Spending Can Change, looking at things like total vs per capita spending and funded vs unfunded spending promises.
The IFS have done a 'What should we expect?' episode in podcast and video form.
Economics Observatory have an article on 'Where is UK public debt ahead of the Autumn 2026 budget?' which I've made a notes frame for below. It's self contained and doesn't assume any knowledge so fine for either year group and works well as a cover task or homework.
