Another great article from Economics Observatory. It looks at the economic risks faced by Wales as a result of an ageing population and declining birth rates, with projections indicating a growth in the elderly demographic and a decrease in the youth population. The Wales Centre for Public Policy recommends 'pro-family' policies like better childcare and parental leave to boost fertility, alongside short-term strategies to retain and attract residents through improved employment, housing, and transport. These measures aim to address immediate demographic challenges while supporting long-term population growth and economic stability.
It's a great article for supply-side policies.
Here is a notes template. It has a QR code in the corner so it's quite self contained - useful for cover or homework!
