Millicent Fawcett podcast

This is from Economics in Ten podcast, season five, episode five. Better known as a leader of the women’s suffrage movement, Fawcett was also a serious economist who wrote one of the most widely used economics textbooks of the 19th century and was present at the founding of the British Economic Association in 1890. The episode recovers this side of her work and raises broader questions about the women who contributed to the development of economics but have been largely written out of its history. There’s also material on the emerging field of feminist economics, which examines how the economy affects men and women differently.
