Happiness Economics podcast

This is from Economics in Ten podcast, a special episode. Departing from the economist-biography format, this special looks at happiness economics as a growing field in its own right, examining how economists have tried to measure wellbeing beyond GDP, what the research says about what actually makes people happy, and how this is beginning to influence policy. It’s a natural companion to teaching on the limitations of GDP as a measure of living standards, and the broader question of what economic activity is actually for. Accessible to all students and directly relevant to the GDP and living standards sections of the spec, making it a good listen for macro students and a nice way to bring some normative questions into the classroom. Pete and Gav are clearly enthusiastic about the material and it shows.  Listen here
